Connecticut (September 10th - September 19th)
We arrived in Mystic Connecticut only after safely maneuvering the "perceived" low hanging trees along the highway. Needless to say, I'm sure the long line of cars behind me were none to pleased - but hey, when it comes to taking off the two air conditioners on top of your big rig, one can not be to careful, right?
Connecticut was green...filled with luscious green trees and low mountains hovering in the background. The area around Mystic was particularly rural, with long winding roads flanked by evergreen forests.
We ended up spending most of the day exploring this little bit of history, although we did have a little time left to visit a nearby aquarium where we were able to watch the playful Beluga Whales.

After leaving Mystic we landed in Bristol, Connecticut which is close to Hartford and New Haven. My friends, this part of the trip was a quick blur, as we arrived only in time to take Molly to a nearby Vet before having to sadly take her to the boarding kennel & doggy daycare. You see we had to fly home to Memphis early the next morning for a family wedding and before we could kennel Molly, she had to have a flu shot - - yes, believe it or not, Connecticut requires flu shots for dogs.
After a very quick weekend at home, we flew back to Connecticut and prepared to travel on to New Jersey. But before we left, we had one more day to spend in Connecticut - and we found the most perfect way to spend it. We drove to nearby New Haven, (home to the campus of Yale University), and had lunch with our dear friend Emily Chew (whom we've known since she was in elementary school).
Emily, who has grown into such a fine, young, confident woman, now works on the campus for the Yale University China Association. So, even though it rained our entire time spent in Bristol... we indeed found the one bit of sunshine 😄. Thanks Em for making our trip to Connecticut even more special!
