Day 8 - Jamestown, NY

Day 8 - Jamestown, NY

It is such a blessing when God crosses your path with other Christ followers, especially those actively  praying and seeking to serve Him.   That is just what happened in Jamestown, NY when we met the Hanush's.   (Now keep in mind that I really wanted to stop over in Warren, PA. to see the Alleghany National Forrest; however, that did not work out...imagine why?)  I truly believe it was by the providence of God that we we ended up in Jamestown and met this precious family.

When we arrived at the campground we immediately noticed the RV parked next to us had a sign that read "Prayer Walk Across America ".    The next morning we met Dave, Lyn and their son Darrol and quickly discovered the story behind their amazing journeys.

Check out their website @ www.GPSWalk.org ("Go, Pray, Serve") to learn more about their walk of love and faith.   As they walk across the nation, they are praying daily for communities, individuals, churches, as well as those serving overseas and their families. You can also follow them on Facebook: GPS Walk.

I was further blessed when Lyn gave me a copy of her book titled "Putting a Face on America" which tells how after the shock of 9/11, she and two other West Coast women wanted to make a difference the best way the knew how - walking and praying their way across the country.  They walked 4,026.5 miles from Blaine, Washington to Key West, Florida -  following country roads and making friends in countless towns and villages.  (I've already started reading and believe me, it's hard to put down).

Please be praying for them as they walk across and minster to our country.

Not only was the countryside of Jamestown beautiful, it is also the birthplace of Lucille Ball.  We were able to spend some time visiting several museums & monuments dedicated to Lucille & Desi.   We were really surprised to see the number of movies (beginning in the 1930's) that Lucille Ball starred in; as well as the listing of all the movies Desilu Studios produced.  Click here for more pics
